Taking The Men Who Stare at Goats Seriously

The Men Who Stare At GoatsEditorial by Dr. David Leffler

Published in Frontier India World Affairs (India), The Seoul Times (South Korea), Garoweonline (Somalia, Radio Garowe), Senegambia News (Gambia), The Liberian Dialogue (Liberia), Dhivehi Observer (Maldives), The Colombo Times (Sri Lanka), Australia. To (Tonga), News Blaze (Australia) and Chowk (United States.)

I saw the movie The Men Who Stare at Goats with interest. I enjoyed the movie for what it was - a satirical look at the US military's attempt to develop more of the full potential of their warriors using so-called paranormal approaches. Unfortunately, words like "paranormal" and "supernatural" are loaded terms which carry negative connotations. For this reason, scientists are hesitant to associate themselves with people who profess interest in such things. However, since I have already been associated with one of the real-life characters of the book and movie, I would like to discuss the real-life military possibility of using more of the potential of the human mind through my area of expertise - Invincible Defense Technology (IDT).

In The Men Who Stare at Goats, the character General Hopgood (played by Stephen Lang) is based on Major General Albert Stubblebine, US Army (Retired), a former commander of the US Army Intelligence & Security Command (INSCOM). He is satirically portrayed as attempting to walk through walls without success. In both the book and movie, a soldier under his command allegedly killed a goat by staring at it. In real life, Stubblebine served as a consultant on my Consciousness-Based Military Defense doctoral committee at The Union Institute & University. He was an intelligent pioneer in the development of human resource technologies for the US Army. Stubblebine understood the latent potential of the human mind, and, that warriors would eventually be trained to harness it. Jon Ronson wrote in his book, The Men Who Stare at Goats, "General Stubblebine passionately believes the First Earth Battalion doctrine that every human being alive was capable of performing supernatural miracles." [The entire editorial is available on the India Frontier World Affairs website.]

Dr. Leffler Speaks at Institute for Defense and Business

While attending the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) meeting in Washington, D.C. recently, Dr. David Leffler met Van W. Noah, PE, the Program Director at Institute for Defense and Business and informed him about Invincible Defense Technology. Dr. Leffler was invited to speak at what was called the "Invincible Military Lunch" for the distinguished list of military members representing all services and civilian leaders who were in attendance at the Logtech Advanced Program in Logistics and Technology held on November 1 - 6, 2009.

When word got out about the topic of Dr. Leffler's presentation, extra chairs had to be brought in to accommodate the people who signed up at the last minute for his talk. The presentation was well received and after it was over, almost everyone (including people who did not attend the talk) wanted a copy of the DVD by Dr. John Hagelin, Executive Director, International Center for Invincible Defense, titled Achieving National Invincibility. (An edited transcription of the DVD is also available online.)

Canadian Centres for Teaching Peace Publishes Invincible Defense Paper

In 2001, shortly after 9/11, the Canadian Centres for Teaching Peace published a pioneering article titled "Invincible Defense: A New "Secret Weapon!" It discussed the benefits gained from deployment of Invincible Defense Technology by the Mozambique Prevention Wing of the Military. Now the Canadian Centres for Teaching Peace has followed up and published a comprehensive scientific study about the effects of Mozambique's Prevention Wing of the Military. The study, by Guy David Hatchard, Ph.D., and Kenneth Cavanaugh, Ph.D., also examined the effects of
Prof. Kenneth Cavanaughother coherence-creating groups on other countries as well. It is available online and titled "The Peace and Well Being of Nations: An Analysis of Improved Quality of Life and Enhanced Economic Performance Through the Maharishi Effect in New Zealand, Norway, USA, Cambodia, and Mozambique - A Longitudinal, Cross-Country, Panel-Regression Analysis of the IMD Index of National Competitive Advantage."

New Video: PTSD and Transcendental Meditation (TM)

The issue of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) has gained public attention in an unexpected way. There has been a revelation that, in the past, the military medical establishment has failed on major fronts to provide the very best treatment deserved by military personnel returning from conflict.

The Transcendental Meditation (TM) program is a scientifically validated, cost-effective solution that could be easily and quickly implemented.

David George, former Infantryman 101st Airborne Division, US Army, appears in a new video (click to watch the video now) describing his experiences practicing the TM program. For more information see:

Stress reduction Using the Transcendental Meditation Program: Solution to Problems Arising from Combat Stress -- Col. Brian M. Rees and Dr. David R. Leffler gave this presentation at the Seoul National University & Korea Military Academy-sponsored international conference.
Brazilian Government will train 1.5 Million People

It will be interesting to see who will win the Race for "Inner Space." The Netherlands (Holland), Trinidad and Tobago, Bolivia, Peru and Colombia now have fully operational Unified Field-Based Defense Systems. The Brazilian government announced that it will start training 1.5 million people (civilians) for their defense system. Guyana, Mexico and Guatemala will probably be fully operational in December. For details about the first phase of the Brazilian project, see this AFP video from Rio News: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abiOrpuHQ5s.

Between 1987 and 1988 a number of Brazilian state governments introduced the Transcendental Meditation program to their military police. More than twenty-six thousand police officers of all ranks were instructed. Military Police work is often dangerous and extremely stressful. The increasing demands of contemporary military police work are reflected in the many stress-related problems experienced by such personnel, including psychosomatic disease, high suicide rates, high divorce rates, reduced lifespan, increased disciplinary problems and poor community relations. Invincible Defense Technology is a holistic program which eliminates these stress-related problems and unfolds the warrior's full potential. For more information see:
